All 12 crew escaped ok after the aircraft crashed 2 miles east of Wisbech, Cambs after departing from RAF Sculthorpe
Delivered to the USAAF 10th Sep 1945. Assigned to the 310th Bomb group, Assigned to 344th Bomb Squadron , 98th Bomb Group, Spokane AFB, Washington. TDY to RAF Sculthorpe, Norfolk in July 1949
Written off July 21st 1949 en route the pilot encountered an unexpected situation. All 12 crew bailed out.
We are offering these tags which are approx 7x4cm on backing cards as shown in the photo. You can see from the photo the condition of the full tank, pulled from a dig with other recovered parts.
You can see that they are extremely worn and damaged which add to the character. We have done our best with the engraving however due to the shapings of the whole tank this was difficult so some small irregularities may appear. We feel this adds to the value!
