BOAC Vickers VC10 G-ASGC Fuselage Panel Tag
G-ASGC was built at Weybridge and made its first flight on 1/1/65 and delivered to BOAC in 3/65.
GC only ever served with BOAC/British Airways and was in the latter’s colours when in 3/79 it flew from New York to Prestwick in 5 hours 1 minute (scheduled time 6hrs 20mins). This was the fastest transatlantic flight for a sub sonic aircraft, a record that stood for 41 years.
VT’s last commercial flight was on 22/10/79 when it flew from Amsterdam to London after which it was stored at Heathrow. VT’s last flight was when she was donated to the Duxford Aviation Society and flew into Duxford on 15/4/80. She is the only Super VC10 still in passenger configuration.
The panel that these are cut from was badly corroded and replaced by the team who look after this beautiful aircraft and comes from the belly skin of the aircraft.
